The emblem of the resort Located between Villers and Houlgate, the Falaises des Vaches Noires is a paleontological site of great scientific renown.

Among many discoveries, we have discovered the fossils of a pliosaurs 10 meters long, an ichthyosaur, a marine “crocodiles”, but also ammonites, sea urchins and sponges. In order to popularize this exceptional heritage, a giant green dinosaur was installed in the heart of the city in the gardens opposite the Tourist Office. It has become over the years the real emblem of the station. The dinosaur, a colossus 12m long and 7m high, consists of an iron frame filled with 6 tonnes of earth where 9.000 plants grow:

• 7 green pyrethes for the upper body
• 2 alternantheras or rubras for the underside.

It is set up in June, so that these plants grow enough, by the city's green spaces service, which removes it in November. His return and his installation gives rise to a long-awaited celebration which announces the start of summer!

It should be noted that for some time now, the dinosaur dad has been accompanied by his young. A real landmark in the resort, it is admired by visitors who have made it their main target for their souvenir photos.
