The Darley Prix Morny, a Group 1 race created in honor of the Duke of Morny, is one of the oldest races in France, since the first edition took place in 1865. It is a straight line event where the horses 2-year-olds compete over a short distance of 1 meters at a high speed of over 200 km / h. The sprinters have barely a minute to make the difference and cross the finish post! The fame of this event crosses the Atlantic and American horses do not hesitate to make the trip like the champions No Nay Never (60), Lady Aurelia (2013) and Campanelle (2016), all three trained by Wesley Ward. It is ridden by Lanfranco Dettori, also at the head of great victories in 2020 with the Prix du Haras de Fresnay-Le-Buffard Jacques Le Marois (Group 2020) and the Prix Guillaume d'Ornano - Haras du Logis Saint-Germain ( Group 1) that Campanelle triumphed at the Darley Prix Morny (pictured left). Allowance: 2 €

That same day, the Deauville-La Touques racecourse also hosts the Darley Prix Jean Romanet, a Group 1 race reserved for 4-year-old mares. It is run over 2000 meters. In 2020, there were twelve of them at the start of the 17th edition of this prize, and it was finally the jockey Ioritz Mendizabal, in the saddle on the mare Audarya, who emerged as the winner (photo on the right). Audarya, trained by James R. Fanshawe, gives her trainer a second victory since he had already won the Darley Prix Jean Romanet thanks to the mare Speady Boarding in 2016. Allowance: € 250
