Third edition of the Qatar Prix Jean Prat previously disputed at Chantilly.

The addition of this grand prix in 2018 to the Deauville calendar gives the Normandy racetrack an additional race labeled Group 1, the level of excellence of the Gallop. Deauville now hosts 8 Group 1 races (6 for English thoroughbreds and 2 for Arabian thoroughbreds).

The Qatar Prix Jean Prat confronts horses, male and female, 3 years old on a race of 1.600 meters in a straight line. The 2019 edition was won by Too Darn Hot ridden by Frankie Dettori and trained by John Gosden (photo).

This grand prize offers spectators a taste of the Deauville Barrière Meeting which will take place this year from Thursday July 30 to Sunday August 30.

Indeed, the horses that stand out in the Qatar Prix Jean Prat often take date for the Prix du Haras de Fresnay-le-Buffard - Jacques Le Marois, the most endowed race (€ 1 million in allowances) of the Deauville Meeting Barrière, which will be contested on Sunday August 16 over the same distance and also in a straight line.

With an annual calendar of meetings spread over seven months, Deauville-La Touques ranks first among flat racetracks in France and fully participates in the economy and the special atmosphere of the city.

An emblematic showcase of thoroughbreds, the hippodrome attracts an international clientele of connoisseurs, won over by the prestige of its Group I races but also by the high-level selection offered by the famous yearling sales organized by Arqana.
