Soloists of the Orchester de Normandie and the Conservatoire with regional influence of Normandy: Jasmine Eudeline, violin, Mayeul Girard, viola, Stéphane André, cello and Olivier Peyrebrune, piano

The aim of the Société Nationale de Musique, founded in 1871, was to "promote French music and enable young composers to perform their works in public". In fact, the splendid Premier quartet for violin, viola, cello and piano, which Gabriel Fauré composed between 1876 and 1879, was created in 1880 at the Société Nationale, long before Mélanie-Hélène Bonis became its first female secretary in 1910. Mel Bonis, for this was the pseudonym she had chosen so that she could not be identified as a composer, wrote her admirable Piano Quartet n ° 1 between 1900 and 1905, before creating it in front of Camille Saint-Saëns, who was enthusiastic about it: "I would never have believed that a woman could write that, she knows all the tricks of the trade". The two quartets, major works of the repertoire, share the beauty of the melodies and the originality of the harmonic writing, in a word a particularly refined refined writing.
