The "Time for the Ocean" association invites the public to major events, bringing together artists and scientists to tackle crucial issues and environmental drifts in a context of climate emergency. Understanding to better protect the oceans also means raising awareness and passing on information.
Plastic pollution, a veritable scourge for our oceans, represents the largest, most harmful and most persistent fraction of marine waste, accounting for at least 85% of the total. With 81% of the plastic produced each year becoming waste in less than a year, and plastic pollution doubling in just five years, it's crucial to be aware of this invisible threat, composed in particular of microplastics, present in oceans, soils and even in the air we breathe.
Scientists, experts in Artificial Intelligence and satellite networks, and artists have come together to try and provide concrete answers to this fight against plastic pollution of the oceans and coastlines.
Crucial questions will be addressed: Why is the ocean so polluted by plastic? What are the consequences for the living world? How can we do without plastic? What role can the plastics industry play? How is legislation evolving in this area?
During the meeting, hosted by Marion Semblat, President of Time for the Ocean, the public will be invited to an open session in the heart of La Chapelle. This public session will feature screenings of the films "Sea Art Movies" and "TARA", as well as a presentation by Biocéanor, offering a unique perspective on emerging solutions to marine pollution.
