With its 3,000 hectares of woodland, making it the largest forest in Calvados, the forest is part of the commune's identity. This ancient Gallic forest, formerly known as the Touques forest, was exploited by brioleurs, who transported logs, faggots and ferns with the help of mazettes, small horses equipped with a bell. The Fête du Bois is an opportunity to raise awareness not only of this history, but also of how our forests are managed today. Through fun, friendly and inspiring experiments, the public can discover the use of wood in all its forms.

A NATIONAL EVENT
The "Fête du Bois" is organized as part of the national festival "Les Nuits des Forêt", from June 9 to 18, which invites everyone to (re)discover their nearest forest and meet the men and women who live in it, cultivate it, protect it or draw inspiration from it... At a time of climate change and the collapse of biodiversity, the festival is an opportunity to reconnect with nature in a sensitive way, and to question our relationship with living things and resources.
