As soon as it opens, Les Franciscaines unveils its very first temporary exhibition "Sur les paths du paradis" under the general curatorship of Régis Debray, philosopher, writer and member of the Académie Goncourt.

Faithful to its history, made up of cultural diversity, crossroads and encounters, Deauville invites sharing and reflection, by highlighting in this exhibition the representation of paradise in the three religions of the Book: Judaism, Christianity and Islam. .
Its ambition is to explore, alongside artists from all centuries and from all western and eastern regions (Brueghel de Velours, Maurice Denis, Marc Chagall, Imran Qureshi, Mané-Katz, etc.), the historical and artistic transcription of the founding texts of the paradise, from the myth of Enki in Mesopotamia to the representation of the Incarnation by Bill Viola. The aim is to identify the influences, the exchanges, the interpenetration of iconographic codes from the XNUMXrd millennium BC to the XNUMXst century, under the multidisciplinary gaze of the members of the Scientific Committee.

"On the paths of paradise"is envisioned as a sensitive experience, according to a program which combines scientific veracity and conviviality; where the visitor becomes in turn spectator and actor, thanks to an original scenography and to the confidence of renowned lenders including the Musée du Louvre (exceptional partner of the exhibition), the Musée d'Orsay, the Museum of Art and History of Judaism, the National Library of France, the Aga Khan Museum in Toronto, the National Museum of Modern Art, the Carmignac Foundation, the National Center for Plastic Arts, the Fine Arts Museums of Bordeaux, Nancy and Pau, the Badische Landersbibliothek in Karlsruhe ...
