To inaugurate the Galerie des Maîtres, a Franciscan space devoted to exceptional works, this original exhibition demonstrates, with works rarely presented to the public, how color has become fundamental in the history of twentieth century art.

From a work by Pierre Soulages, for whom "Black is the first color of paint", to a monochrome sculpture by Yves Klein which affirmed that"Blue recalls… what is most abstract in nature…", other works from private collections bring together: Marc Chagall, Sonia Delaunay, Fernand Léger, Joan Mitchell, Serge Poliakoff, Niki de Saint-Phalle, Maria Elena Vieira da Silva and Zao Wou-Ki in their unique and complementary relationships to the colour.

This unique exhibition was made possible thanks to loans from collectors who generously accompany the opening of the Franciscans.
