Since the creation of the Deauville International Polo Club in 1907, polo has been the rhythm of the month of August in Deauville: for three weeks, the greatest European and Argentine professionals meet at the Barrière Deauville Polo Cup and try to win the coveted Golden Cup, instituted in 1950.

If there is a famous polo tournament in France, it is the Golden Cup which closes the world championship in Deauville and displays the biggest names in international polo. This competition, which was born in 1950 thanks to the founder of the Barrière group, François André, starts on August 14th with teams of 14/16 goals and continues until the end of the year.
