Emily Becaud and Julien Dassin sing Pierre Delanoë: a creation for the 18/19 Season
An outstanding lyricist (and loyal Deauville resident), Pierre Delanoë would have turned 100 in December 2018. To pay tribute to him, the City of Deauville is kicking off the centennial of his birth by inviting Emily Bécaud and Julien Dassin to cover his repertoire. Pierre Delanoë not only wrote the greatest hits of Gilbert Bécaud, Joe Dassin, Michel Polnareff, Michel Fugain or Nana Mouskouri... He is also the French adaptor of Bob Dylan and Simon and Garfunkel songs. A unique concert for an exceptional evening.
Pierre Delanoë and Deauville

In 1960, Gilbert Bécaud (1927-2001), a loyal Deauville fan, convinced Pierre Delanoë (1918-2006) to join him in the villa he rents every year in Deauville, near the Franciscaines. The lyricist of Et Maintenant, Nathalie, ... and Gilbert Bécaud's great successes is also one of his closest friends. After two summers spent in a rental, Pierre Delanoë adopted Deauville and bought a house in Tourgéville in 1962. He came to Deauville for every school vacation and spent the end of year celebrations there. In this house he welcomes Gilbert Bécaud, Michel Fugain at the beginning of his career when he wrote to him : Je n'aurais pas le temps, Lucien Morisse, artistic director of Europe 1... and many friends and artistic collaborators.
From 1962 onwards, he became friends with Michel and Anne d'Ornano and shared each New Year's Eve with them, writing an original song each year, set to music by Claude Bolling, another faithful member of the Deauville New Year's Eve party.
In Deauville, Pierre Delanoë played a lot of tennis, participated in many tournaments and then became a brilliant golfer. Between two sports sequences he wrote a number of songs. We remember that it was in 1975, with his friend Claude Lemesle, at the Deauville spa, that he wrote the lyrics of the adaptation of an Italian song discovered by Joe Dassin, which was to become L'Eté Indien, the biggest hit of 1975.
