Emily Becaud and Julien Dassin sing Pierre Delanoë: a creation for Season 18 | 19

Outstanding lyricist (and loyal resident of Deauville), Pierre Delanoë would have been 100 years old in December 2018. To pay tribute to him, the City of Deauville is kicking off the centenary of his birth by inviting Emily Bécaud and Julien Dassin to take over his repertoire. Pierre Delanoë has not only written the greatest hits of Gilbert Bécaud, Joe Dassin, Michel Polnareff, Michel Fugain or Nana Mouskouri… He is also the French adapter of songs by Bob Dylan and Simon and Garfunkel. A unique concert for an exceptional evening.

Pierre Delanoë and Deauville

It was in 1960 that Gilbert Bécaud (1927-2001), loyal to Deauville, convinced Pierre Delanoë (1918-2006) to join him in the villa he rented each year in Deauville, near the Franciscans. The lyricist of Et Now, Nathalie,… and of Gilbert Bécaud's great hits is also one of his closest friends. After two summers spent in a rental, Pierre Delanoë adopted Deauville and in 1962 acquired a house in Tourgéville. He comes every school holidays and spends the end of year celebrations in Deauville. In this house he welcomed Gilbert Bécaud and Michel Fugain at the start of his career when he wrote to him: I wouldn't have time, Lucien Morisse, Artistic Director of Europe 1… and a number of friends and artistic collaborators.
From 1962, he sympathizes with Michel and Anne d'Ornano and shares each New Year's Eve with them, writing each year an original song set to music by Claude Bolling, another faithful of this New Year's Eve in Deauville.
In Deauville, Pierre Delanoë plays a lot of tennis, takes part in a number of tournaments and then becomes a brilliant golfer. Between two sports sequences he writes a number of songs. We remember that it was in 1975, with his friend lyricist Claude Lemesle, at the Deauville thalassotherapy center that the lyrics for the adaptation of an Italian song discovered by Joe Dassin, which would become L'Eté Indien, the biggest success of 1975.
