Pierre-Olivier Deschamps

Photographer of the great Franciscan project

Pierre-Olivier Deschamps, photographer from the VU 'agency, follows the evolution of the Franciscans' major project until its opening in 2020. He regularly comes to Deauville to capture in images the important phases of the building's evolution. His images are published on this site in the "Follow the site in pictures" section.

« This early January 2018, while photographing the Franciscan site, I had the feeling of going beyond the only sensitive inventory of the signs of the bygone presence of this small religious community. The color and the light, which this sleeping beauty revealed to me, seemed to me to constitute an ideal gateway to this future cultural place open to the widest audience..

PIERRE-OLIVIER DESCHAMPS has lived and worked in Paris since 1981.
First a theater photographer and studio assistant, his work was quickly disseminated by the daily Liberation. He was one of the first photographers to join Agence VU '. He then produced numerous portraits in the world of literature and cinema and participated in the development of a new reportage photography. For ten years, through press publications and institutional collaborations, he has been interested in architecture and the urban landscape in all its forms.

In 2007, he published Architectures co-published by the Chêne and Arte editions. In 2010, he produced a book published by La Martinière on the Houses of architects in Paris and the same year obtained a World Pressa Photo for his series "Residence". In 2012, he completed a work on French industrial heritage published by Martinière. In 2013, he completed a 2-year photographic campaign on the urban landscape in Ile-de-France, on all the future sites of the Grand Paris network project. In 2013, he also drew up a photographic inventory of the wasteland of the department store La Samaritaine, exhibited in autumn 2015. He carried out two major campaigns in 2014 and then in 2016 on behalf of the Musée des Confluences in Lyon. dead from the museum's collections, campaigns that led in particular to the publication in 2017 of a beautiful book at Actes Sud.
