Pierre-Olivier Deschamps

PIERRE-OLIVIER DESCHAMPS has been living and working in Paris since 1981. He is a member of the Agence VU’.
Photographer for the theatre and studio assistant when he started, his work was soon distributed by newspaper Libération. He was one of the first photographers to join Agence VU’. He made several portraits concerning literature and cinema and contributed to the development of reportage photography. In the latest 10 years, he has been focusing on architecture and urban landscape, as confirmed by press publications and institutional collaborations.

In 2007, Architectures was co-published by Chêne and Arte editions. In 2010, he published a book about architects’ houses in Paris with La Martinière. In the same year, he obtained the World Press Photo prize for his “Résidence” series. In 2012, he published with La Martinière a work about the French industrial heritage. In 2013, he ended a photographic campaign lasting 2 years about the urban landscape in Ile-de-France and the future sites of the Grand Paris Express project developing rapid transit lines. In 2013, he showed the construction site of the La Samaritaine large shop through an exhibition held in Autumn 2015. He worked on two fundamental campaigns for the Confluences museum in Lyon in 2014, then in 2016. He focused on still life, starting from the collections of the museum. These campaigns led to the publication by Actes Sud of a nice book in 2017. He is following since 2015 the development of the future Samaritaine.
