Jury President

With acting awards from the three biggest international film festivals (Cannes, Venice and Berlin), Catherine Deneuve is, for audiences around the world today, cinema itself. In her choices, she embodies all the values of the Deauville Film Festival: elegance, beauty, modernity and more… Her talent led her to such great directors as Jacques Demy by way of François Truffaut, Luis Buñuel, Roman Polanski, Robert Aldrich, Marco Ferreri, Tony Scott, Manoel de Oliveira, Philippe Garrel, Raoul Ruiz, André Téchiné, Arnaud Desplechin, Emmanuelle Bercot, and even Lars von Trier… In a 60-year-plus career spanning over 120 roles, Catherine Deneuve has attained the status of film legend, and remains no less active and in demand today. Most recently, she re-teamed with André Téchiné for Farewell to the Night and is awaited in Cédric Kahn's dramatic comedy Happy Birthday and The Truth, the upcoming film from Japanese director Kore-eda Hirokazu - winner of the Palme d'Or at last year's Cannes for his film Shoplifters - in which she will play Catherine, an actress, film icon and mother to Juliette (Juliette Binoche), alongside Ludivine Sagnier and Ethan Hawke.
