Young skipper supported by the City of Deauville and the Deauville Yacht Club

Eric Delamare has been always sailing with his family, member of the Deauville yacht Club. He attends the Dumont d'Urville high-school in Caen and lives in Ouistreham. After having been sand-yachting since he was seven 7 (he won for three times the Norman championship), and competing with a 420 yacht, he fell in love with cabin boat sailing when he was 12. Since 15, he has been sailing alone on the Seine Bay and has remained very close to his first club – the Deauville Yacht Club –.

The beautiful story linking the City of Deauville and Eric started in 2016. On that year, the Solitaire Urgo Le Figaro started from the Morny Basin. Young skipper Cécile Laguette was there too. Three days after the competition’s start, young skipper Cécile Laguette had not found a sponsor yet to fund her race. The City of Deauville decided to encourage her with a last-minute support. In return, Cécile accepted to sponsor a young skipper of the Deauville Yacht Club, Eric Delamare. Under her wing, he could follow the race on an accompanying boat and benefit from her knowledge.

One year later, in 2017, Eric Delamare was on the starting line of the SOLITAIRE URGO LE FIGARO with the support of the Deauville Yacht Club – his first club – and the City of Deauville. He managed to convince the "Jeunes talents" (Young talents) jury of the Normandy Region to support him for the following two years.

The City of Deauville and the Deauville Yacht Club will give their financial contribution. In return, Eric Delamare commits to:
- bear the coulours of Deauville on his boat;
- share his experience on Deauville social sites and networks, in collaboration with the City and the DYC;
- organize exchanges with Deauville's students: children of Fracasse school, young licence holders of the DYC, high-school students and members of the UNSS voile and future students of the sport sailing section of the Maurois high school.
