Discover the training center

To become a champion, you have to learn!

Deauville-La Touques occupies a very special place among French racecourses, as it is complemented by a Racehorse Training Center, known to be one of the largest in Europe. Every morning, the horses come with their trainers, real mentors, to prepare themselves until the D-day on the racetrack. Nearly twenty of them have chosen to settle in one of the stables that border the Deauville training center, which welcomes more than 450 horses all year round and up to 700 in summer!

The infrastructure

In addition to the boxes built especially for training, the center provides several tracks for the horses :
- three sand tracks of 2,000m, including one for trotting and two for preparatory work (canter)
- a grass track of 2,200m
- a mobile hurdle course

To complete the site, the fiberglass sand track (PSF), inaugurated in June 2003, is also used for training. It allows the organization of a program of gallop races during the winter season and the preservation of the grass track during the summer calendar. France Galop has selected a surface made of oiled fibrous sand (Viscoride), which offers essential qualities such as uniformity of the track, resistance to frost (up to certain temperatures), virtually no splashing and the absence of watering, which is particularly appreciated in dry weather.

Walk along the Hippodrome de Deauville-La Touques, in the center of Deauville, by avenue Hocquart de Turtot or rue Letellier to see the stables of the training center. You can also see them practicing in the morning from the Boulevard Mauger on the racetrack before the horses go to the beach to relax in the sea water, a direct access from the stables unique in France.

In summer, the horses are much more numerous, especially with the arrival of the polo horses. In addition to coming and going from the polo fields to the beach, they regularly parade through the downtown streets on match mornings.

Deauville is the town of my childhood, the one that has brought me luck throughout my career. These are my fondest memories, my most beautiful victories. The history of my family is intimately linked to Deauville.
