Louis-Philippe Dalembert

Louis-Philippe Dalembert was born in Port-au-Prince and lives in Paris. Since 1993, he has published short stories (with Serpent à plumes since 1993: Le Songe d'une photo d'enfance), poetry, essays (with Philippe Rey/Culturesfrance in 2010, with Lyonel Trouillot: Haïti, une traversée littéraire) and novels (most recently, with Mercure de France: Noires blessures in 2011 and Ballade d'un amour inachevé in 2013). Visiting professor at various American universities, he was a resident of the Villa Medici (1994-1995), writer-in-residence in Jerusalem and Berlin, and has been the recipient of numerous awards including the RFO prize in 1999, the Casa de las Américas prize in 2008 and the Thyde Monnier prize of the SGDL in 2013.
