Deauville International Grand Prize for Painting in 1955

Originally Venetian, Enrico Campagnola (1911-1984) began to sculpt and draw with talent from early childhood. Graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Rome in 1934 - sculpture section - he professed in Besançon. Then he moved to Paris in 1947 and worked in advertising. Without a workshop, he devoted all his free time to painting and modeling.

In 1955 the “Grand Prix International de peinture de Deauville” awarded him a special mention for the “Nude with shells”. This distinction is the starting point of his career as a painter and of unanimous success with collectors and art critics in France abroad and mainly in the United States.
An exhibition is organized by the Seventy Five Gallery in New York. From 1957, the Madsen Gallery permanently exhibited it on rue Saint-Honoré. He was invited to the Quadriennale in Rome, to the Venice Biennale, participated in the Salon d'Automne, was selected for the Prix Greenshields at the Galerie Charpentier. Foreign museums acquire paintings.

From 1968, he completely lost interest in the commercial and media aspects of his career to devote himself to a more personal work, both in painting and in sculpture.

The prodigious faculty of her creative gifts is revealed by her works which illustrate through the permanence of women, her inexhaustible love of beauty.

In 1985 the newly created association "Espaces Enrico Campagnola" to rediscover the works of the artist, donated to the City of Deauville paintings and sculptures exhibited since at the Villa Strassburger and opened a reference site on his work: www.museecampagnola.fr

Since 1985, respecting Campagnola's wishes, other donations have been made and visible at the Musée des Années 30 in Boulogne-Billancourt (Hauts de Seine), the Museum of Art and History of Meudon (Hauts de Seine) and at La Piscine Museum in Roubaix (North).

Exhibitions have been organized:
- 1987 in Saint-Martin-de-Brômes (Alpes de haute Provence)
- 1988 in Aubusson (Creuse) and at the Chapeau Museum in Chazelles-sur-Lyon (Loire)
