Tullio CORDA
Invited to the 2016 Books & Music Festival
Born in 1972 in Milan, Italy
Lives in Lyon
Tullio Corda was born in 1972 and grew up in Cagliari, a town on the island of Sardinia.
As a child, drawing was certainly one of his favorite activities, but he never thought of becoming an illustrator or even an artist. In 1992 he moved to Genoa where he graduated in architecture. After his studies he works as an architect and as a graphic designer. Besides these activities he cultivates a passion for oil painting and engraving.
But it is the accidental discovery of a children's bookstore that will guide his journey: leafing through the books on the shelves, something is triggered in him.
In 2006 he starts attending the summer courses of the School of Illustration "Stepan Zavrel" in Sarmede (Italy). There he worked with Linda Wolfsgruber on the monotype, a technique that will become characteristic of his graphic universe.
In 2009 his first book written and illustrated by himself, Une fourmi pas comme les autres, was published by Margherita edizioni (Milano).
From that moment on he decided that he definitely wanted to be an author and illustrator of children's books.
Since 2012 he lives and works in Lyon.

THE MONOTYPE, IT'S GREAT!
Workshop with Tullio Corda - Duration 1 hour - From 3 years old
Suitable for all ages, this workshop takes children to discover an amazing artistic technique! The monotype is a unique print, obtained by applying printing ink on a flat surface such as glass, metal or Plexiglas. It is then transferred to paper after manual or mechanical pressing. It is magic!
