How to experience the American Film Festival?
It's been making moviegoers' eyes shine since its first edition in 1975. The American Film Festival and the City of Deauville cherish their loyal audiences and make it easy for them to take part in the event. Like cinema professionals, 60,000 festival-goers attend screenings every year, thanks to passes accessible to all, exchange views with the film teams and express their opinions on the films in competition through the Prix du public de la Ville de Deauville.
Passes
To enjoy a little, a lot, passionately
A favorite gateway for festival-goers, passes give access to screenings at all three festival sites: the Center International de Deauville - where previews are programmed alongside the film teams -, the Cinéma Morny and the Casino Barrière de Deauville. There are three types of pass.
FESTIVAL PASS
The all-in-one ticket favored by cinephiles! Its lucky holders have the privilege ofaccess to all screenings*, i.e. 80 films, for the entire duration of the festival. Discover a film in competition in the morning at the Casino, enjoy a Doc from Uncle Sam at the Centre International de Deauville in the afternoon, and finish off with a rerun premiere in the evening at the Cinéma Morny - put together your own program!
*Star sessions not included.
THE 1 DAY PASS
Ideal for short stays in Deauville, this day pass once again demonstrates the festival's determination to open up to the general public. Based on the same principle as the Festival Pass, it gives access to the screening of more than 10 films* on a selected date.
*Star sessions not included.
THE ETOILE SEANCE PASS
Aptly dubbed "Séances Étoile", these are in fact the avant-premieres, screened each early evening at the Centre International de Deauville, in the presence of the film teams. Attending one of these screenings is a real experience: the 2,000m² auditorium with some 1,500 seats, the arrival of the juries to the growing applause of the audience, the moving standing ovations... A unique atmosphere in the darkened auditorium.
City of Deauville Audience Award
Festival-goers' opinions count
Because the public has something to say, you too can share your own feelings thanks to the Prix du public de la Ville de Deauville! Created as a tribute to the public's attachment to the American Film Festival, this award opens the door to spectators by inviting them to vote for the films in competition. As you leave the cinema, at the Centre International de Deauville only, head for the voting kiosks or the hosts/hostesses to give your favorite film a rating; the opportunity to share favorites and, why not, offer a chance for a director to be revealed. At the end of the voting, a draw will be made to win two Festival Passes to the next edition!
Cabin inaugurations
A magical, accessible moment
They are an integral part of the Deauville postcard. The beach cabinsEach year, a new big name from the world of American cinema arrives to inaugurate his or her own beach hut with the Star-Spangled Banner. Jessica Chastain, Liam Neeson, Stanley Tucci, Cate Blanchett and many others have been honored with this tribute, and now follow one another along the Promenade des Planches. This tradition is open to the public and free of charge, provided you arrive well in advance to reach the best spot, immortalize the moment, and have the chance to get an autograph!
Dates and times of booth openings are announced on the Centre International de Deauville website and in the festival program.
Les rencontres du 7e art
A privileged exchange
Since 2021, the Deauville American Film Festival has organized public meetings with guest personalities. In a room where film buffs and professionals rub shoulders, the stage is occupied by directors, actors and screenwriters who lend themselves to the question-and-answer game; festival-goers can then interact with the teams of films in competition, exchanging their vision of cinema, their own experience, their favorite film.
They take place at the end of screenings and during "conversations with" appointments at the Centre International de Deauville. American director, screenwriter and producer James Gray (Monday, September 9) and French director, writer and producer Christophe Honoré (Saturday, September 14).

Deauvillais at the heart of the event
