Vassily Chmykov was born in Monaco in 1999. He began playing the violin at the Academy of Music of Prince Rainier III of Monaco in the class of Margarita Guerchovitch and is currently studying at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse in Paris in the class of Alexis Galperine in the Master's program and also in Lausanne in the Master's program as a soloist in the class of Svetlana Makarova since September 2021, where he will have the chance to record his first CD in 2022. He has already performed as a soloist and chamber musician in many countries, accompanied by the Monte-Carlo Philharmonic Orchestra, the Orchestre des lauréats du CNSMDP de Paris, the Artis Ensemble, the Krasnoyarsk and Novosibirsk Philharmonic Orchestras. Vassily is also called upon to perform with French orchestras (Orchestre de Chambre de Paris, Orchestre National de Lille, Orchestre de l'Opéra de Rouen, Orchestre de Paris, Orchestre Philharmonique de Monte-Carlo). He has been invited to numerous chamber music festivals in France and abroad: Kronberg Academy, Orangerie de Sceaux, Festival Pablo Casals, Académie Jaroussky, Seiji Ozawa International Academy (Switzerland), Seiji Ozawa Matsumoto Festival (Japan), Festival des Arcs, Festival de Saint-Cezaire, Festival de Giverny, Centre de Musique de Chambre de Paris, Festival de Musique de Chambre d'Entrecasteaux. Vassily has participated in masterclasses and shared the stage with many international artists such as Augustin Dumay, Michaela Martin, Svetlin Roussev, Pavel Vernikov and Svetlana Makarova. He has been awarded several international prizes: First Prize at the IXth International Alexander Glazunov Violin Competition, Prince Albert II of Monaco Prize, First Grand Prize at the International Intercordes Competition in Paris, Grand Prize at the Kronberg Masterclasses Academy "Ana Chumachenco" in 2021.
