Nicolas Chedmail
Musician
Born in Angers in 1978. Nicolas obtained in 2003 his Prize of modern horn at the CNSMD of Lyon in the class of M. Garcin-Marrou and joined shortly after the superior training of the Musical Academies of Saintes where he studied with M. Maury.
Since January 2004, he has participated in the projects of ensembles specializing in the interpretation of music on period instruments: Le Concert de la Loge, Les Arts florissants, Il Convito, La Petite Symphonie, Les Talents Lyriques, Le Cercle de l'Harmonie, L'Ensemble Matheus, Les Musiciens du Louvre, Opera Fuoco, Les Siècles, Les Agrémens, .
He plays with modern orchestras such as the Mahler Chamber Orchestra, Les Dissonances, the Orchestre National de France, the Orchestre de l'Opéra de Lyon, the Orchestre de Chambre de Paris.
He also pursues an activitý as a chamber musician with the Edding Quartet, the Hoffmann Quartet and the Philidor Ensemble.
Passionate about improvisation and sound experimentation, he invented in early 2001 the "spatialized horn" or "spat'", an instrument from the brass family that allows to spatialize sound. In 2003, he brought together a group of spatialists under the name Spat'Sonore.
He can be found in various music ensembles ranging from jazz (with Médéric Collignon, the Umlaut Bigband) to contemporary music (in the ensemble L'Instant Donné or the Ensemble Cairn).
