The Easter Festival: "Stolen moments of great musical emotion"

Julien Chauvin, first Prize of the General Competition in Paris in 1997, studied with Vera Beths at the Royal Conservatory in The Hague, as well as with Wilbert Hazelzet, Jaap ter Linden and Anner Bylsma for the interpretation of works from the Baroque and Classical periods.

In 2003, he won the International Early Music Competition in Bruges and has since performed as a soloist in Georgia, South America, South Africa, the Easter festivals in Deauville and the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam. His training led him to play in baroque ensembles such as Concerto Köln, Les Musiciens du Louvre, the Concert d'Astrée, the Baroque Ensemble of Limoges.

He also performs romantic and modern repertoires, in close collaboration with Steve Reich, György Kurtág, Thierry Escaich, Thomas Adès and Philippe Hersant. He performs with Renaud Capuçon, Jérôme Pernoo, Jérôme Ducros, Bertrand Chamayou, Jean-François Heisser, Christophe Coin, Patrick Cohen or Alain Planès.

After ten years within the Cercle de l'Harmonie which he directed with Jérémie Rhorer, Julien Chauvin founded in 2015 a new orchestra: Le Concert de la Loge. At the same time, he continues his collaboration with the Cambini-Paris Quartet created in 2007.

Julien Chauvin provides musical direction for lyrical productions such as the show Will note directed by Juliette Deschamps with Anna Caterina Antonacci, The Sapphire by Félicien David and Atys by Piccini in productions of the Palazzetto Bru Zane. He also directs Le Concert de la Loge in several operas productions in productions by Mariame Clément (Armida by Haydn), Marc Paquien (Phaedra by Lemoyne) or Sandrine Anglade (The Cid by Sacchini).

He is also invited to conduct the violin: the Esterházy Hofkapelle orchestra, the Avignon Provence regional orchestra, the Katowice Orkiestra Historyczna and the French Youth Orchestra, the Folger Consort in Washington, the Quebec symphony orchestra , and soon Les violons du Roy and the Kammerorchester Basel.

He performs regularly in recital with Olivier Baumont and records with him at the Palace of Versailles the disc "À Madame" for the label Aparté.

His discography with the Circle of Harmony, includes concert works by Haydn, Beethoven and Berlioz for the labels Eloquentia and Ambroisie-Naïve, and in 2016 he begins the complete Parisian Symphonies by Haydn with the Concert de la Loge for the label Aparté.

Since September 2017, he has been associated with the Institute for Advanced Studies in Paris as part of a partnership that works to bring music and research into dialogue.
