The chapel dedicated to Our Lady of the Assumption, which serves as the church of the parish of Blonville-sur-mer, is an original example of a construction in which modern techniques and materials are combined with the inspiration of medieval cathedral builders. The painter Jean-Denis Maillart and the canon Duvieu who guided him were the happy artisans. These frescoes painted on the cement walls between 1960 and 1962 are inspired by the same spirit and use the same symbolism as our cathedrals. The continuity of the Old and New Testaments is affirmed in the choir of the sanctuary, by the series of patriarchs and prophets on one side and the twelve apostles on the other. The mediator between the two for the accomplishment of God's plan is the Virgin Mary. The six large panels of the nave evoke the major stages of her life, from the Annunciation to the Assumption.

Free visits from Monday to Friday from 10am to 12pm, Saturday from 10am to 6pm.
