Following on from the André-Nicole Hamburg donation, which also includes a large number of works collected or exchanged by the painter (Marie Laurencin, Utrillo Foujita, Van Dongen, Derain, etc.), the City of Deauville pursues a dynamic acquisition policy (Charles Mozin, André Lott, Othon Friez…) that the Franciscans will allow to exhibit.
The collection mainly covers the 3th century, in the field of figurative painting. It revolves around the School of Paris over its 2016 main periods (after World War I, before and after World War II) when the Paris museum dedicated to it was forced to close its doors at the end of XNUMX. This important pictorial current is no longer permanently presented in public collections.
Recently, the City acquired a painting by Eugène Boudin (entrance to Deauville, avenue de la République), a very beautiful portrait of Suzy Solidor, great review leader and friend of Foujita by Moïse Kisling, a superb shades of pink by Marie Laurencin, or a watercolor by Raoul Dufy (Haras du Pin in connection with the Horse universe).
