Alexandra Cardinale

Dancer at the Ballet of the Opéra national de Paris

It is Alexandra Cardinale that we owe the annual Gala d'Etoiles event.

Alexandra Cardinale was admitted to the competition at the age of ten at the ballet school of the Paris National Opera, directed by Claude Bessy. In 1993, she was ranked first in the Paris Opera Ballet Competition under the supervision of Patrick Dupond. From his first year in the Opera Ballet, the latter invited him to dance on his personal tours. She was raised to the rank of Coryphée by interpreting the variation of "Carmen" by Roland Petit under the direction of Brigitte Lefèvre. She dances all the great works of the classical repertoire: "La Bayadère", "Le Lac des Cygnes", "Cendrillon", "Roméo et Juliette", "Don Quichotte" by Rudolph Noureev, the ballets by George Balanchine, Roland Petit, Serge Lifar, Vaslav Nijinski, Jerome Robbins, Pierre Lacotte, Maurice Béjart… And also contemporary works: Pina Bausch, William Forsythe, Angelin Preljocaj or Wayne McGregor chose it for their creations at the Opera.

In addition to her dancing career, in 2010 she created AC Opéra Ballet Production, which enabled her to produce and stage ballet shows, in line with her artistic commitments: the transmission of the heritage of the great classical repertoire and the discovery of contemporary creations.
