Davide Cali grew up in Italy, where he began his career as a comic book artist and writer: he collaborated with several fanzines and worked for the Italian monthly Linus from 1994 to 2008.
He started writing children's books in 1998. His first titles were published in Italy, however, since 2004 the majority of his books are published in France, in particular for Éditions Sarbacane, and his children's comics appear on the magazine Mes premiers J'aime lire (Bayard Éditions).
As of 2013, he has published more than 60 books, translated in more than 30 countries; under the pseudonym of Taro Miyazawa in 2009, he wrote The First Day of School, illustrated by Nodar (Arnaud Boutin) and under the pen name of Daikon he published on the blog "life outside of Paradise" the series Adam (& Eve ): La vie hors du Paradis, with drawings by Bob (Robert Yannick), which appeared in the magazines L'écho des Savanes (2009) and Fluide Glacial (2013).
His illustrated albums L'Ennemi and Moi j'attends have been adapted for children's theater by various companies in France and Belgium.
He published three albums with Helium Publishing, in collaboration with illustrator Benjamin Chaud: Je n'ai pas fait mes devoirs parce que... (2014), Je suis en retard à l'école parce que... (2015), La vérité sur mes incroyables vacances (2016).
