Caimi & Piccinni
Jean-Marc Caimi and Valentina Piccinni are a duo of photographers who are interested in contemporary stories. Their work, with a particular attention to the human being and its stories, is internationally recognized and regularly featured in the press, notably in Le Monde, Society, The Guardian, Die Zeit or L'Espresso. They have received several awards such as the Sony World Photography Award in the Discovery category, the Gomma Grant for best black and white documentary work, the 2020 PHmuseum of Humanity Fellowship in the Solo Exhibition category, and many others. Six of their projects have been published in the last five years and exhibited in festivals and galleries, including the Biennale Für aktuelle Fotografie (Mannheim) and Voies Off in Arles. With their latest book Güle Güle, published by André Frères, they were finalists for the Arles 2020 Author's Book Prize and the Nadar Prize.
Caimi&Piccinni in Normandy - In the presence of absence
It is through a personal, fluid and almost literary narrative that the Franco-Italian photographic duo interweaves the lives of men in their present and past history and that of nature, plants, animals, the sea and the tides. This dialogue between man and nature, strongly present in their work, constitutes the scenario, the framework of the stories they tell through their contrasting images. A book published by Pierre Bessard accompanies the exhibition.
