Dermot Bolger

Invited to the 2019 Books & Music Festival

Poet, novelist and playwright, Dermot Bolger was born in 1959 in the Dublin suburb of Finglas. A factory worker, then a library assistant, then an editor, he has devoted himself exclusively to writing since 1980. He is considered one of the most brilliant Irish authors of his generation. His novels have been translated into many languages and his plays have won numerous awards, including the Samuel Beckett Prize for The Lament for Arthur Cleary, his first play.
