The Festival Gazette - 2nd edition

La Gazette - the Journal of the Books & Music festival - has just been published. A second issue that will tell you a lot about the 100% Creole programming of this 2017 edition: literary reviews, interviews or even portraits of influential men and women in this field written by students of the University of Caen and directed by Belinda Cannone.

Thanks to Crédit Agricole de Normandie, partner of the Books & Music Festival, which once again accompanies this issue.

The Gazette will be available to discover during the Festival weekend (April 7 to 9) at Villa Le Cercle. In the meantime, you can already browse it online by following this link: http://bit.ly/2nsCNau

The first confirmed artists

The program for the next edition of the Books & Music festival is taking shape, and the arrival of some guests has already been confirmed. Among them: Leyla McCalla. New Yorker originally from Haiti, Leyla McCalla is a multi-instrumentalist who plays the cello in a very personal way to accompany folk songs but who is also comfortable playing blues on the guitar or an old Creole song on the banjo.

"We like their grainy sounds, the languor without primer of the young American. In English, in Creole or in French, the journey is sweet". TELERAMA

A pure moment of grace!

Discover the four books vying for the 2017 Teen Prize

Promoting reading among young audiences is one of the founding commitments of Books & Music Festival, which, since its creation in 2004, has approached literature from the angle of its links with music and creations emerging from their encounter. One of the highlights is the Prix des Ados, now run by all Normandy colleges and high schools.

Established in 2009 the Teen Price is a joint initiative of the Festival and Cultural spaces E. Leclerc of Normandy. Norman teenagers of 3rd and 2nd grade are thus initiated into literary criticism by exploring multiple universes, of which music is the common thread.

A reading committee, made up of teachers and documentalists, booksellers from Leclerc Cultural Spaces, Festival organizers and teenagers, devoted their summer to the selection of four books:

François Dimberton, Alexis Chabert, Gainsbourg, Jungle
David Lescot, Master, South Papers Acts
Claire Wolf, Run billie, Gallimard Youth
Philippe Nessmann, The fairy of Verdun, Youth Flammarion

In September 2016, more than 120 classes from 59 establishments registered for this new edition, i.e. 2900 students from all over Normandy!

From October to March, students discover the books offered by Leclerc Cultural Spaces, then vote for their favorite.

The prize, endowed with 1000 euros, will be awarded on Friday April 7 2017 at 10 a.m. at the Deauville International Center, during a colorful ceremony, bringing together the authors of the selection and some 1600 sworn adolescents.
