Last Horse On The Sand

"Pairing my own experience of Deauville with Guillaume Apollinaire's poem La Petite Auto, these photographs present the town through the eyes of someone about to leave, and who could never return. An elegy to place, the perfect landscapes of Deauville's surface reveal an internal landscape, memory and joy at once, reality mixed with imagination."

The moon falls and the tides rise,
Clouds gather and crowds dissolve,
From darkness to light,
Another world is born,
The winds blow across the beach,
The last horse has left the sand.
