Charles Berberian

Invited to the 2016 Books & Music Festival

Charles Berberian was born in 1959 in Baghdad (Iraq). After a year lost in medicine, he attended the Beaux-Arts de Paris. His first comics are published in fanzines. In 1983, he asked Philippe Dupuy to illustrate one of his stories. This marked the beginning of a first career as a duo, without it being possible - or desirable - to determine who does what: an inextricable osmosis. After the Journal d'un album (L'Association, 1994), in 2008, they obtain the great prize of the city of Angoulême, the Alph'Art, which rewards the best album of the year for the fourth volume of Monsieur Jean (Dupuis). Charles Berberian composes and plays music himself, solo or with Rodolphe Burger or during the Siestes acoustiques with Bastien Lallemant. He has published several books on music(Playlist, naïve, 2004, Jukebox, Fluide Glacial, 2011...), and draws "live" during concerts (Siestes acoustiques, Le Ring...).

CAT, CAT, CAT
THE MUSICAL SHOW BY PASCAL PARISOT
Live illustration by Charles Berberian
Adapted from Pascal Parisot's book-disc, illustrated by Charles Berberian and published by Didier Jeunesse, this show is entirely dedicated to Felis silvestris catus, more commonly known as the cat! Pascal Parisot is a singer, songwriter, musician, arranger, director... his musical life is hyperactive. When it comes to shows for children, he has more than one trick up his sleeve. Endowed with a fertile imagination and an original "touch", he creates shows with a great accuracy of tone, full of humor and great finesse, which hit the bull's eye with a family audience.
A thousand questions arise for the author. You're a cat, you eat, you sleep, you drink... the life of a cat can be summed up in... cat. No. What does a cat dream about? ... Does he know how to dance the cha cha cha? ... Does the cat do yoga? ... The answer, in pop songs, zany and cha...loupées
