DEAUVILLE Etablissement Elie-de-Brignac > August 15th to 18th

The ARQANA yearling sales have become popular for providing champions of the best worldwide competitions, sold at any price. In 2019, Deauville assisted to an unprecedented sale: a yearling was sold for 1.6 million euros. It was the daughter of Dubawi, a star stallion considered as one of the best in the world.

Deauville is ranked first in France and second in Europe in the thoroughbred horse auction sector. The Deauville sales have become a high-quality label in horse races. In August, it gathers at the heart of Normandy all professional categories of the world of horses.

What’s a yearling?
A yearling is a one-year-old colt. As thoroughbred horses are only naturally conceived (without any artificial insemination or embryo transfer), colts are born in the period ranging from the beginning of the year to May or June. They are 14 to 18-month-old when they are shown on the ARQANA ring.

The program
August Yearling Sale: the best French yearlings and a top-end selection of foreign colts (coming from Great Britain, Ireland, the United States, Germany) participate to the extraordinary sales held in August during the Prix Jacques Le Marois weekend.
V.2 Yearling Sale: created in 2013, the v.2 Yearling Sales is the 2nd yearling event held in August in Deauville. About 100-120 yearlings, selected for their precocity, are sold.
