Guided tour of the Spirulina Farm of the Bouquetot eco-domain

A former large breeding farm in the Pays d'Auge covering 68 hectares, the Bouquetot estate, owned by the Communauté de Communes Cœur Côté Fleurie, is a precious testimony of rural life and heritage in Auge in the 17th and 18th centuries. The seven buildings, typical of the traditional wood-framed architecture, are scattered in the middle of a wooded meadow. Eco-domain since 2009, the site is a reference for the development of innovative and environmentally friendly agricultural and tourist activities.

Among the actors of the eco-field of Bouquetot, Akal Food produces since 2010, within an educational and experimental farm, spirulina, a micro-alga with nutritional virtues, rich in proteins, iron and antioxidants to strengthen immunity and vitality. Fresh or dehydrated, it is used in many recipes.
The visit starts with a musical introduction, goes back over the history of spirulina and the farm, presents the method of cultivation and benefits of spirulina, then ends with a tasting of the products and sale.
