The technique used in the workshop is modelling, i.e. pottery without a wheel: colombins, plate work, pinched work. The materials used are white Beck earthenware, Botz engobes for drawing on raw clay, and glazes, which are lead-free powders sold on the market. Ceramics take a long time to dry and fire. During this workshop, we'll make 2 or 3 ceramic objects, depending on size. These objects will first be stored in the workshop, to be dried, fired and glazed. They will then be handed over to their creator, on site or sent by post, after about a month and a half (drying, glazing, firing time).

A choice of two formats:

- Over a half-day of 3 h: contact with clay, discovery of the sensations it provides, and creation with this fabulous material of an object shaped and decorated by hand. This object will first be stored in the workshop for drying, firing and glazing. It will then be handed over to its creator, either on site or by post, after about a month and a half (drying, glazing, firing).
- Two sessions of 3 hours each on two consecutive days: to go further in mastering the creation of an object, the first 24-hour drying period enabling the object to be worked on in greater detail.

Summer course times are adapted to tide times.

Maximum 4 people per course.

EMMANUELLE MELLOT-KRISTY
A graduate of the Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts de Paris, Emmanuelle Mellot-Kristy has worked for many years in a variety of media, including painting and intaglio engraving. About fifteen years ago, she discovered ceramics and was immediately taken by this material, which enables the creation of objects where utility and art meet. Long a Parisian, she has now been living in Villerville for seven years, where she has set up her workshop.
