Bertrand belin

Guest at the 2017 Books & Music Festival

Bertrand Belin is a musician, author and composer. Born in Auray in 1970, he arrived in Paris in 1989. For many years, alongside a career as a singer, he has worked with theater, dance and cinema. Shark, a first eminently poetic novel, Bertrand Belin returns with a short, high-density text in which we find all the strangeness and the art of the artist-writer's ellipse. Three fishermen, on the Quiberon side, at a time in history that could be the Occupation - but that is not so sure ... The boss ("the other"), a first employee, the oldest, named "the third man" and a young one, "the youngest". Their daily gestures, fishing, their strained relationships because of the violent personality of "the other". The last day: it is believed that the important thing is this cormorant who was caught in the nets, but no, much more important, the "other" killed a soldier of the occupation army in the morning at time to board. In the evening he is arrested and will be executed. That is all and it is enormous as Bertrand Belin knows how to densify the smallest sentence, the least word, load them with hidden information, make them threatening. A story that begins like this: "Still, it is indeed a cormorant".
