Christmas holidays: the best family outings

Christmas Road Trip Photo

From December 19 to January 4, the illuminations make the streets magical, melodious songs resonate in the shops that sparkle with a thousand lights and the smells of gingerbread happily plunge us back into our fondest memories. More than anything, the wonder in the eyes of children sprinkles a bit of magic inDeauville. During the holidays, we ride horses, swing on the golf courses, be dazzled by a miniature Christmas village and shop for the last gifts to put under the tree. To your agendas.

Marvel at the illuminations

____________________

Since the end of November, inDeauville has been adorned with a sparkling decor whose luminous halos sumptuously dress the streets and roundabouts and envelop the beautiful houses and shop windows. Stroll with your nose in the stars under the starry sky of Place Morny in Deauville, crack in front of a bright gingerbread house and take a picture with Olaf at Villers-sur-Mer, marvel at the curtains of light that drape the facades of the town hall of Saint-Arnoult, travel to the North Pole with igloos, polar bears and penguins at Vauville... Each municipality in the territory has put on its finest light clothes to make visitors' eyes shine at nightfall.

Twirl around the Christmas carousel

____________________

In an atmosphere of joy and celebration and to the delight of children, what could be more magical and wonderful than to find a Christmas merry-go-round? On the place of Casino of Deauville throne one carousel inspired by the world of Jules Verne. Like a journey through time, this vintage merry-go-round invites the older ones to nostalgia and the younger ones to create memories. Children take flight in a hot-air balloon, ride a horse, imagine themselves as a prince or princess in a coach or even pilot a steam car.

Fall back to childhood in front of the miniature Christmas village

____________________

What if you lived near the mythical Santa Claus village in Lapland? It is the dream that Louis Germain, living in Blonville-sur-Mer, achieves each year by creating a miniature christmas village straight out of his imagination! For nearly ten years, with the approach of the end of the year celebrations, the 85-year-old Blonville resident has been installing small illuminated houses, snow-covered decorations, mills, lampposts, merry-go-rounds, churches, small trains and characters of all kinds to bring life to his village. We admire the illuminated carousel and its wooden horses, have fun with the children sledding down a mountain of (fake) snow, daydream in front of the train station and its ticket office to take the Christmas Express and marvel at the sleigh of the Santa Claus flying in the air with his reindeer!

Over the years, the miniature Christmas village has become a real tradition in Blonville-sur-Mer and attracts many visitors; it is displayed in the window, facing the market square, so that everyone can enjoy their Christmas spirit at any time of the day.

Ride a horse during a baptism, a course or a ride

____________________

Do you want to introduce your children to horse riding? All year round, the inDeauville equestrian centers offer them the opportunity to live their first experience with horses, during or on a ride, on the back of ponies or held in hand. Of all sizes, dresses and origins, ponies have been chosen for their docility and allow children and their parents to discover horse riding in complete safety. The most curious will opt for a horseback ride on the beach or in the Aubergine countryside. Some equestrian centers require a minimum level of gallop, but it is possible to go on horseback riding as a beginner.

Go on a hike

____________________

If winter is the ideal season to stay warm at home, during the Christmas holidays, we put on a coat, put on gloves, bundle up in a scarf and go hiking with the family. Less known than in summer, winter hikes are an opportunity to enjoy an outing in the heart of nature filled with calm and serenity. Among the trails accessible to children, you can climb the heights of Mont-Canisy (3,6 km), stroll around the Haras de Meautry in Touques (3,8 km), stroll along the loops of the Touques at Saint-Arnoult (5,2 km) and admire the alleys of typical village of Villerville (6,8 km). Your children will become real little budding hikers! Between local flora and fauna, heritage, bocage and history, we take our time, we breathe fresh air and we admire the different facets of the inDeauville territory.

To spend in the sea

____________________

Nothing is more invigorating than an activity at sea in the dead of winter when the sun continues to shine. For these end-of-year holidays, the most intrepid take the plunge with Concept Sport Emotion ! Aquatic hiking, the loin-coast consists of walking in the sea with a water level reaching up to the waist. For two hours, participants are equipped with a wetsuit and a paddle and perform various movements to tone the whole body. With the pressure of the water, the abs, lower back and legs are more intensely used than walking. No matter the season, the loin has many health benefits. If it is appreciated during hot weather, cold winter water allows better energy and caloric expenditure. It is recommended to bring gloves and a neoprene hood in low season.

Those who are more cautious can opt for the "fitness kayak", a very complete sport which combines water sport and physical activity. It is a good alternative to the traditional sport which is practiced in the open air to enjoy nature, fresh air and the sun. Fitness kayak also allows you to relax in contact with flora and fauna.

Useful information
