DEAUVILLE'S 8 MAJOR CULTURAL EVENTS IN 2018
Exhibition - Françoise Sagan : Life in freedom, writing in demand.
February 10 > March 11
This traveling exhibition is the very first one dedicated to Françoise Sagan. It was conceived for the inauguration of the Françoise Sagan media library in Paris in spring 2015. Enriched since then, it arrives at the Point de Vue, in Deauville.
Books & Music Festival
April 13 > 15
Created in 2004, the Festival Livres & Musiques approaches literature from the angle of its links with music by proposing meetings under multiple forms. A journey through literature, punctuated by improvisations and creations, readings, round tables, concerts, debates... In 2018, the Books & Music Festival celebrates its fifteenth anniversary! Fifteen years is adolescence, the age of possibilities, of dreams, of metamorphosis. It is the time of the no, of the protest. And the artists, writers, musicians, have their part to play in the art of the revolt. It is to this aesthetic and subjective fresco that the Festival will echo: an evocation of this part of ourselves, always alive, by honoring the literature and music protesters. A wink to the fifty years of the events of May 68.
Easter Festival
April 14 > 30
For more than twenty years, the Easter Festival has brought Deauville to life in April. It allows a hundred or so young instrumentalists to get together with friends to tackle the entire repertoire of chamber music, from trio to orchestra, and modern music, within the most diverse ensembles. A rich program that brought together three generations of performers and ensembles.
Summer exhibition :
Painting in Normandy
July 1 > September 15
Each year, the summer exhibition lifts the veil on a part of the Franciscaines' collections, a future place of conviviality and cultural abundance for the City of Deauville. In 1992, the Regional Council of Normandy decided to create a collection, "Painting in Normandy", covering the period from 1750 to 1950. In 2018, the City of Deauville will present an exhibition at the Point de Vue with works by Bonnard, Dufy, Boudin, among others, from this collection and completed with those of the Franciscaines.
