The Prix Rothschild, an incredible straight-line race!
End of July

This Group 1 race, the highest level of the competition, is reserved for mares aged 3 and over. It is run over a distance of 1,600 meters, the Mile, which emphasizes speed. A spectacular race for the public because the pack, launched at more than 60 Km/h, passes at the level of the racetrack, a few centimeters from the spectators!

ARC Prix Maurice de Gheest, a rare confrontation between Sprinters and Milers
Early August

It's one of the only European events to take place over the intermediate distance of 1,300 metres. Thanks to this originality, this straight-line race offers an interesting and unusual confrontation between the sprinters, who specialize in distances between 1,000 and 1,200 meters, and the Milers, whose preferred distance is 1,600 meters.

Open to horses aged 3 and over, both males and females, it can pit young hopefuls against their established elders. Champions come from all over Europe for this race, and sometimes even further afield.

Al Rayyan Cup Prix Kesberoy & Doha Cup Prix Manganate, Arabian thoroughbreds enter the ring
Mid-August

These two Group 1 races feature Arabian thoroughbreds. One is for 3 year old horses and the second for 4 year old horses and more, i.e. horses already confirmed. The Arabian thoroughbreds are at the origin of the most popular breed in gallop races, the English thoroughbred. In the 18th century, oriental stallions were crossed with English broodmares, thus giving birth to the English thoroughbred breed, renowned for its speed.

This straight-line event is contested over a short distance of 1,200 meters at a high speed of over 60 km/h as you cross the finish post. The young champions have barely a minute - the race clock - to make the difference! On the same day, the Deauville-La Touques racecourse also hosts the Prix Jean Romanet, another Group 1 race for 4-year-old mares, run over 2,000 meters. Its record of achievements includes some of the greatest European champions of the young century.
