Since its inception in 1975, the Deauville American Film Festival has been the must-attend event of the fall film season. Official competitions for independent films, tributes, documentaries, premieres and screenings punctuate an ever-evolving festival. It is the only European festival of this scale to open its doors to the public.

THE COMPETITION - the artistic vision of independent cinema as a truth about the world. To discover and support new talent.
PREMIERES - authors and directors of today's cinema meet the public.
UNCLE SAM'S DOCS - a better understanding of American society through documentaries that bear witness to their time and era.
THE TRIBUTES - the pleasure of American cinema in its myths and legends, and the celebration of talent.
THE NEW HOLLYWOOD - honoring the future by inviting one of American cinema's finest actors to the Festival.

WINDOW ON FRENCH CINEMA - previews of French films.
L'HEURE DE LA CROISETTE - Cannes selection devoted entirely to the year's Cannes Film Festival awards.
THE DEAUVILLE TALENT AWARDS - reward the most outstanding personalities in American cinema. Their names are inscribed on the lices des Planches.

The Louis Roederer Foundation Revelation Prize
The Critics' Prize, awarded by critics and journalists

The Prix d'Ornano Valenticomposed of Anglo-Saxon journalists, is awarded to a 1st French feature film.
The Prix du Public de la Ville de Deauville, the opinion of festival-goers also has a Prix!
During the festival, the Lucien Barrière Literary Prize awarded since 1976 to an American author or an American-related work.
