The Books & Music Festival takes a trip to Ireland

Every year in the spring, the Deauville Book & Music Festival celebrates the links between music and literature over a weekend. Each edition is an opportunity to offer a variety of encounters between musicians and authors around a strong theme.

For its 16th edition, Books & Music Deauville offers from May 3 to 5 a trip to Ireland to probe the Irish spirit, the traces of orality in today's writing, the genius that makes Irish literature vibrate and try to show, once again, the great power of fiction.

The 23rd Easter Festival plays its final notes

They are about a hundred young instrumentalists who are delighted to meet each spring to tackle the whole repertoire of chamber music within the most diverse ensembles during the Easter Festival of Deauville.

For its last two concerts, the Festival welcomes a new figure of French singing and the latest of the leading quartets, Ambroisine Bré and the Hanson Quartet will offer on Friday a captivating anthology of outstanding and rare works of French music with Lekeu, Chausson, Ravel & Debussy. On Saturday, the Festival will conclude with one of the summits of the history of music, Bach's "St. John Passion", a true sacred opera in which the voices and solo instruments compete in emotion and musical sumptuousness. For this concert, the young conductor and gambist Valentin Tournet has gathered around him a vocal and instrumental cast worthy of his great European models.

The Ford Mustang 184, a legend for Deauville, on the Tour Auto

After competing in time trials on 4 circuits and 10 special events on the roads of France, the 240 competitors of the Tour Auto Optic 2ooo, a rally of classic cars, will reach Deauville on Saturday, the finishing town. Visitors will be able to admire the beautiful cars from 4:30 pm. Optic 2ooo will also set up a prevention village from 3pm to 8pm on the theme of "good eyesight at the wheel" with free activities led by opticians and hearing aid practitioners, to raise awareness of the fact that good eyesight is essential for safe driving.

Among the attractions of the Tour Auto, visitors will be able to see the Ford Mustang 184, which marked a whole generation of movie lovers for having been the American car driven by Jean-Louis Trintignant in 1965 in the film "A Man and a Woman" by Claude Lelouch. On the last 40 km, its owner Joël Lefebvre will welcome an exceptional passenger in the person of Claude Lelouch. Last fall, the director shot the epilogue of his masterpiece with his two favorite actors, entitled "The best years of a life". And we find the famous Ford Mustang 184 even if it is not the original model, which burned in a garage fire in the Paris region in 1967. It took the passion of one man to allow the car to rise from its ashes.
