3400 students at the Teen Prize
The Books & Music Festival encourages young people to read and get involved with the François Baclesse Center
Last Wednesday, September 13, the City of Deauville opened the registration to schools to invite them to participate in the Teenagers' Prize organized with the help of the Espaces Culturels E.Leclerc de Normandie within the framework of the Festival Livres & Musiques. Immediate success: in four hours, the quota of students was reached! Year after year, the Teenagers' Prize is more and more successful with teachers, middle and high school students in Normandy. This year, 3,400 students voted for the prize, setting a new record for attendance. The prize, endowed with 1000€, will be awarded on Friday, April 13 at the Centre International de Deauville, during a colorful ceremony, gathering the authors of the selection and many teenagers.

10TH TEEN PRIZE WINS OVER 3,000 COLLEGE AND HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS
In 2009, in collaboration with the Espace Culturels E.Leclerc de Normandie - a partner of the Festival Livres & Musiques - a literary prize was launched for students in the third and second grades of Normandy. It has since been supported by the Normandy Region, the Rectorat de Caen and the Département du Calvados. The Prix des Ados has grown from about sixty entries at its inception to 3,400 in 2018! The key to success: a selection of books with a music theme.
A DONATION OF 3,500 BOOKS BY THE E.LECLERC CULTURAL SPACES
The reading committee, made up of teachers, booksellers from the Espaces Culturels E.Leclerc and teenagers, selects four books whose main theme is music, taking care to ensure the diversity of genres and the quality of the titles. At the beginning of each school year, the Espaces Culturels E.Leclerc distribute no less than 3,500 books to the registered classes. The texts are read, worked on in class and each student can then vote for his or her favorite book.
The presentation of the Teenagers' Prize takes place during the school day, in 2018, it will be on Friday, April 13, it brings together students and authors in the large auditorium of the Centre International de Deauville. This is followed by more intimate meetings between students and writers throughout the day. The Prize is endowed with €1,000. The winning book will be displayed in all E.Leclerc Cultural Spaces in France.

Through our strong support to this operation and more broadly to the Books & Music Festival, we wish to remind that the promotion of reading and artistic education are part of the fundamentals of our fight for access to culture. 10 years after its launch, the enthusiasm for this Prize and the interest it has aroused among young people show that culture has a place among all audiences, that young people are open and curious readers, and that they like to discover texts and give their opinions. It is this approach that also motivated our involvement in the literary mobilization for the François Baclesse Center.
A LITERARY MOBILIZATION FOR THE CENTER FRANÇOIS BACLESSE
On the occasion of this anniversary edition, the Espaces Culturels E.Leclerc - partner of the Teenagers' Prize since its creation - wishes to associate to the awarding of the Prize a strong action in terms of transmission of culture.
The 1600 teenagers present on Friday, April 13 are invited to come with the book of their choice that they liked or that marked their childhood, but especially that they wish to share! Beforehand, they will have "prefaced" the book in order to personalize it. The books collected in this way will be given to the François Baclesse cancer center in Caen, and in particular to the specialized unit for sick adolescents.
Each participant will become a storyteller who will be able to sweeten the days of the hospitalized youth. The presentation of these books will take place at the Centre International de Deauville on Friday, April 13, in the presence of young patients who will also attend the Teenagers' Prize ceremony. Finally, the winner of the 2018 Teen Prize will be invited to meet with sick teenagers in the amphitheater of the François Baclesse Center.
